Given the impacts that are being felt from the coronavirus pandemic around the world, this year's installment of Summer Games Done Quick is shifting to an online format in lieu of doing an in-person event like usual. Overall, this year's Summer Games Done Quick will once again see a mix of returning favorites and some fresh newcomers, including Portal, Hollow Knight, Demon's Souls, Streets of Rage 4, and many more. Games Done Quick has always been big on surprising games making for impressive speedruns, and even with the change to an online format, this year will surely be no different.

Originally, Summer Games Done Quick 2020 was planned to run in late June, but was delayed to August in light of the developing situation around the coronavirus pandemic. Eventually, the in-person portion of the event was also suspended in favor of an online format, like many other events and conventions have shifted to this year to prevent large gatherings. Games Done Quick also ran a coronavirus relief speedrunning event this past spring to help support those affected by the pandemic and to raise funds towards medical equipment and PPE for medical workers.

Summer Games Done Quick Online 2020 will take place from Sunday, August 16 to Saturday, August 22.
