It’s that time of year when Nintendo releases another set of financial results. As always, we received updates on both Nintendo Switch hardware and software sales, as well as other key financial data. The figures released today cover Nintendo’s Second Quarter and run from July 1 to September 30.

One of the big wins for Nintendo in this latest set of figures comes from the Super Mario 3D All-Stars which was released on September 18. The game, which is a collection of three of the biggest 3D Mario titles ever, Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy, sold a whopping 5.21 million copies in the first 12 days from its launch. This puts 3D All-Stars within reach with of the top 10 best selling Switch titles, sitting just a couple of million units behind New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe’s lifetime sales.

It’s little surprise that the game has done so well in such a short time period when certain factors are taken into account. The title is only receiving a limited release and players will only be able to purchase the game between September 18 and March 31 next year. It’s also the first time that players have been able to play these three incredibly popular Mario games on their Nintendo Switches.

The game was revealed and then released with an incredibly quick turnaround. Nintendo held a special Direct in honour of the 35th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros. on September 3. That event revealed that not only did this game exist but it was to be released just a couple of weeks later. Alongside 3D All-Stars, Nintendo shared a whole host of other Mario news. We got the reveals of Super Mario Bros. 35 and Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, which are both out now, as well as the news that Super Mario 3D World + Bowsers Fury would be coming to the Switch next year.
