While we still haven't had the rumoured Direct just yet, Nintendo has decided to whet fan's appetites a little bit with a new trailer for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. The game was revealed last September, alongside some new Amiibo, as part of Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct, however, until now, few extra details had been shared about the title.

The two-minute long trailer was teased on Twitter last night before being released today and contained a handful of new details about the port of the Wii U favourite.

The trailer focuses on the previously unseen Bowser's Fury section of the game and shows off a range of exciting new levels. It also teases that players will be supported by Bowser Jr. who can use his magic paintbrush to assist Mario on his adventure.

During the final moments of the trailer, we are treated to a showdown between a gigantic Bowser, who somehow looks eviler than ever and Mario, who consumes a new powerup which allows him to grow to a comparable size to his shelled adversary.

After the release of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Nintendo's 2021 schedule is looking a little bit sparse. Bravely Default 2 and Monster Hunter Rise both release in March and aside from a smattering of other titles, there isn't too much to get excited about. With a range of big anniversaries, however, plus the rumours of a Switch Pro, Nintendo's 2021 could still be one of their biggest yet.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowsers Fury comes to the Nintendo Switch on February 12. Ahead of the launch, you can read our review of the Wii U version which we scored a 9.5/10.
