Kaze Emanuar has created a ROM hack that allows you to play Super Mario 64 online with friends.

You can check out the trailer below:

The game allows you to play as Waluigi, Rosalina, Yoshi, and more from the Mario universe. Every character plays differently.

There doesn’t seem to be anything else new outside of online functionality, characters, and slight to changes to certain maps. In the trailer you’re encouraged to come up with your own game modes. Like racing and hide and seek. Servers can also hold “more players than you’d even want.”

Don’t have any friends to play with? No problem, Emanuar has included a link to a dedicated Super Mario 64 Online forum.

If you’re interested in downloading the game you can go to this link. There’s also a video explaining how exactly you can get the hack working.

In other Mario news, you can check out some footage of Nintendo’s next 3D Mario platformer, Super Mario Odyssey. The game was unveiled back in January during the Switch reveal event in Tokyo. It’s basically the successor to Super Mario Galaxy, Sunshine, and 64. We got the chance to preview the game earlier this summer.

The original Super Mario 64 came out over 21 years ago on the Nintendo 64. Super Mario Odyssey will be available for the Nintendo Switch on October 27.
