Despite releasing so close to the end of Nintendo's past financial quarter, it seems as though Super Mario Maker 2 got off to an extremely hot start for itself in terms of sales.

As divulged in Nintendo's financial report today for Q1 of the current fiscal year, the initial sales of Super Mario Maker 2 were given. According to Nintendo, the game sold 2.42 million units before the end of the quarter, which wrapped up on June 30, 2019. This is a pretty impressive total for Super Mario Maker 2 considering it only released on June 28. That means it sold this number of copies in merely three days. Not too shabby, at all.

We had previously known that Super Mario Maker 2 was doing hot for itself based on figures from other sources, but this information directly from Nintendo just continues to verify as much. Assuming it has continued to sell well throughout July, it could be on track to once again pass the 10 million mark in sales along with other titles like Super Smash Bros. UltimateMario Kart 8 Deluxe, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

With a community that has continued to be very active since release, it seems like the player base for Super Mario Maker 2 will only grow over time. Not to mention, Nintendo has made sure to continually make changes to the game that fans have been asking for. Assuming all of this continues, it seems like the game could have a bright future.

Super Mario Maker 2 is out now, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
