We are in full holiday shopping swing, and it doesn’t look like Nintendo is ready to stop advertising Super Mario Odyssey anytime soon. Yesterday a brand new, 30-second trailer was released by the Nintendo UK YouTube account showing off the trademarked Odyssey gameplay with Mario throwing Cappy and possessing enemies.
While the trailer isn’t showing anything you likely haven’t seen before, this new trailer is less so for us gamers. Instead, the quick ad is likely instead for holiday shoppers or possibly even a TV spot. Not that holiday shoppers aren’t already taking notice; in the first three days after release, Super Mario Odyssey sold through 2 million copies, while also keeping a pretty constant lead in charts for international markets. And while not a final metric until the end of the year, Super Mario Odyssey is 2017’s best-selling game (so far) for Amazon US — despite only being out for a little over a month.
