Super Mario Odyssey to Receive Theater Mode with VR Support
Super Mario Odyssey for Nintendo Switch's upcoming VR update will include the addition of a Theater mode.
Super Mario Odyssey was announced today to receive a Theater Mode by the game’s official Japanese Twitter account. This is following the news that Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be receiving Labo VR support later this month on April 25. The game released back in 2017 was one of the best-reviewed games of the year being called “a meticulously crafted and extravagant package” by DualShockers
Super Mario Odyssey’s Japanese Twitter posted the following tweet:
？ pic.twitter.com/HstnsGk8fF

The tweet translates roughly to: “[With VR] The 4/26 update also adds a “theater mode” where you can see the movie scene! If you use “VR goggles”, you can see images such as the opening in a three-dimensional image with depth. I am surprised at the punch of Koopa! ?” With this new Theater Mode you will be able to watch all of the game’s cutscenes all the way through.
With Breath of the Wild getting Labo VR support the same day, I’m hoping that it will also receive a Theater Mode sometime in the foreseeable future, though its VR support already seems to be a bit more nuance. It would certainly make Zelda fans happy. I also can’t help but think about the of Labo VR support for many Nintendo games like Splatoon 2 or Mario Tennis Aces, though that’s all just speculation on my end.
Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch will both get VR support on April 25.
