Today, Nintendo announced that Super Mario Run will launch for iOS on December 15th.

The smartphone Super Mario game will be available to download from the App Store for free, and will let players “try elements of the game’s three modes.” However, you can also pay $9.99 USD to obtain an unlimited access to each of the three modes.

Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Doug Bowser accompanied the announcement with the following statement:

“The wait is almost over for a Super Mario game that can be played on mobile devices. Developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Super Mario Run brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time.”

When Super Mario Run launches on December 15th it will be compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices running iOS 8.0 or any later version. It will launch in 151 countries and regions, and support the following language options: English, German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Russian, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, and Chinese.
