Metalhead Software put out the first Super Mega Baseball back in 2014. The more arcadey take on America's game was met with positive praise from critics, which helped lead to a second release. Super Mega Baseball 2 improved the graphics and added online play while keeping that same humorous take on baseball. And now, Metalhead is coming back for a third season. This one adds a much-requested Franchise mode and much more. Check out the announce trailer below.

The biggest talking point for Super Mega Baseball 3 is, without a doubt, the inclusion of a Franchise mode. No matter the sport, Franchise mode has become one of the staple modes for gamers over the years. Sure, nowadays it often gets overshadowed by whatever version of Ultimate Team the developer includes; however, it's still many gamers bread and butter mode. Getting it in certainly feels like an important step in building the series into a true contender in the sports genre.

Outside of Franchise mode, the team has added new teams and stadiums, while polishing up the visuals. They've also put in a few new systems to improve the game's simulation feel. Metalhead has added both pick-off and stealing to the game, giving a bit of cat-and-mouse feel to the proceeding. They've even added some player traits to make some players better in certain situations than others.

As someone who has put an ungodly amount of time into games like NBA Street and NHL Hitz over the years, I love seeing a more arcadey, humorous take on sports. Super Mega Baseball 3 looks to be exactly that, with options to up the difficulty and turn into more of a simulation. You'll be able to check it out for yourself soon. Super Mega Baseball 3 comes to Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One in April,
