On the still ongoing Super Robot Wars 30th anniversary event, series producer Takanobu Terada shared a new update on the OG series. I translated his comments below.

Super Robot Wars OG development update

After the SRW DD segment ended, which revealed Ingram in the R-Gun is getting added to the game, producers Takanobu Terada and Hiroaki Oochi chatted a bit about the OG series. They mentioned that they know fans are expecting a new Super Robot Wars Original Generation game, especially since past games and projects have been announced at anniversaries.

However, they won't announce any for now. Terada actually wasn't sure about bringing this up, and consulted Oochi before the event. And they acknowledged it's better to be frank and tell the fans their current situation. They know we're looking forward to it, and they haven't forgotten about the OG series. But we shouldn't expect a new game for now.

The producers explained that with the Covid-19 pandemic, Bandai Namco asked them to focus on the development of SRW DD and SRW 30. But they're working on the OG series as well, and will announce something when they can.

Terada also mentioned a lot of fans the last time he went overseas for an event all asked him about Original Generation, so he knows how much people love the series.

The Super Robot Wars Original Generation series is ending soon?

Lastly, Terada mentioned that they are thinking of ending the SRW OG series and how to wrap it up properly too. He didn't say that the next OG game will necessarily be the final game, but they're also keeping in mind they need to end it one day.

The last OG game was the amazing Super Robot Wars OG The Moon Dwellers on PS3 an PS4. It was the first SRW game to get an English localization via an Asian release. Since then, it was followed by Super Robot Wars V, X, and T.
