Super Robot Wars V, Super Robot Wars X Are Coming to Steam and Switch

Super Robot Wars V, Super Robot Wars X Are Coming to Steam and Switch

It's historical, Super Robot Wars games are officially coming to PC via Steam for the first time ever.

Bandai Namco announced today via the Super Robot Wars official Twitter that both Super Robot Wars V and Super Robot Wars X will be launching on PC via Steam and Switch. The tweet notes that more information will be available in this week’s Famitsu magazine. Meaning we should get a release date and more details tomorrow.

This is historical as it’s the first time Super Robot Wars games will officially be released on PC.

Super Robot Wars V released on PS4 and PS Vita in 2017 and is the first Super Robot Wars main game to get an official English translation through its Asian release.

Super Robot Wars X released on PS4 and PS Vita in 2018 and is the second main series game to follow the same pattern.

The last game in the main series is Super Robot Wars T, released in March 2019. Super Robot Wars T is currently available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, with its Asian releases including an English translation as well. Super Robot Wars T recently added an expansion pack which adds the Original main characters and mecha of SRW V and SRW X along with new playable missions. The game also got an update adding many new mechanics and a new hard mode.

Super Robot Wars Producer Takanobu Terada also announced a few months ago on Super Robot Wars‘ official radio show that Super Robot Wars T is selling extremely well outside Japan and has the highest overseas sales for the series yet. It’s likely Super Robot Wars T will launch on Steam one day as well.

It’s also worth noting that another mecha crossover series by Bandai Namco, the SD Gundam G Generation series, also has its latest episode releasing on Steam for the first time ever.

Lastly, Famitsu posted on its official site previews of the magazine as usual. Unlike Bandai Namco, Famitsu only speaks about Super Robot Wars V coming to Steam and Switch, so it’s likely Super Robot Wars V will launch first, and Super Robot Wars X will launch a bit later.

If you haven’t played either yet, you can find below a list of the series included in Super Robot Wars V and in Super Robot Wars X. You can start with either as they’re standalone. Most Super Robot Wars main series games are standalone except the explicitly numbered ones.
