Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS Director Assures No Future Character Balance Patches Coming, Team Focusing on Online

Last month, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U completed the circle of Smash Bros. goodness this year by bringing 8-player Smash and more to the Wii U, and while periodic patches and updates have been released for both the Wii U version and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, game director Masahiro Sakurai assured that future patches and character balancing has come to an end.

In an interview, Sakurai spoke on the state of both the Wii U and 3DS versions of Smash Bros., assuring that while various changes have taken place for character balance and other adjustments, he detailed that “If we were to do something like tweak characters’ customized special moves, then there’d be no end to it.”

Instead, Sakurai spoke that patches for both versions of the game will not be focused on character tweaks or balancing, and instead that future updates will focus on online play and stability, with Sakurai and his development team committed to the online experience of both versions of the game.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS are available now on both the Wii U and 3DS platforms.
