Today, during the Nintendo Direct broadcast, the house of Zelda and Mario finally officially confirmed the much-rumored Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch.

Unfortunately, not a lot of information was shared about the game, besides the fact that it's going to be released this year, while all we saw was basically a cinematic featuring the inklings from the Splatoon series.

Nothing else is known, so we'll have to wait for further information down the line. My guess is that more information will come at E3, but that's just personal speculation.

If you're unfamiliar with the series, Super Smash Bros. is a franchise of fighting game mashing up all of Nintendo's most popular characters, including Mario, Link, and many more, on top of the inevitable guests coming from games by other publishers on Nintendo platforms.

If you want a better idea of what it's all about, you can check out our review of the game's predecessor, that released in 2014 on Wii U and 3DS.
