Report: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo Leak Snake, Ridley, Pokemon Trainer, and More

Images of new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo leaked on Reddit and Discord and have since been verified by the existence of a new guide.

Get ready because amiibo are becoming a thing again. Images made their rounds around the amiibo subreddit and discord server on Friday which point to a new wave of the NFC figurines including Snake, Pokemon Trainer, Squirtle, Ivysaur, and more for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The images appear to be leaked pages from the recently announced Super Smash Bros. Ultimate guide from Japan.

The images also include other new amiibo including Pirhanna Plant, as well as Simon, Richter, Dark Samus, Chrom, and Ridley.

This new wave of collectibles might just lead to lines outside of major retailers as fans of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate try and beat out scalpers and resellers. The resale market for amiibo saw characters like Marth and Villager going for upwards of $50 long after their release.

Thankfully, as Nintendo managed to catch up to the demand, prices for them dropped. The market crash could have also been attributed to the fact that fans realized how easily they could recreate amiibo using cheap NFC tags and just uploading the amiibo’s files onto them.

The tiny caricatures serve as training buddies, allowing you to play against them rather than a bot. The amiibo learn from their fights and retain knowledge so they fight better every time they are defeated. In reality, it’s kind of like having a Neopet, but they’re ultimately really nice collectibles for the price. I’d be hard-pressed to find a collectible figure of Snake for $12.99.

Nintendo Wire attempted to verify the validity of the images before the guide was officially announced. A reporter attempted to overlay the images from the game on top of the pictures from the guide to see if this was a photoshop job.

Sadly there’s no Solaire present in the leaked photos so I’ll just have to keep praising the sun to hope that they add a Dark Souls character to Smash.
