As a reminder once again that time slows down for no one, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is celebrating its one-year anniversary this weekend on Saturday, December 7. I can hardly believe that fact already since I first got to play and review the game a year ago, but because of that cause for celebration, Nintendo is kicking its anniversary off with a new Spirit Board event. With the one-year anniversary of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate arriving this weekend, Nintendo has announced that a special Spirit Board event will be taking place for the game from December 6-8, 2019 to celebrate. Specifically, Nintendo detailed that the event will provide players with triple EXP and SP after Spirit Board battles, while also giving players a Damage 50% item to use.Though it might not be the exact sort of celebration that players might have had in mind for the game's one-year anniversary (sadly, no DLC fighter reveal yet), the event at least should give players a boost in trying to level up their Spirits. That Damage 50% item should especially come in handy for some of the trickier Spirit Board battles out there, and it's at least a great reminder to pop back into the game to see what has changed in the year since it released. In terms of other recent Smash Bros. news, most recently Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury was added to the game last month, leaving just one more DLC character left to be unveiled in the first Fighters Pass for Ultimate. With The Game Awards around the corner, it wouldn't be too far of a hope that we see the fifth and final fighter for this season of DLC for the game revealed, but Nintendo has assured at least that more fighters are on the way beyond the initial characters in the first Fighters Pass.Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now exclusively for Nintendo Switch. If you have yet to pick up the game for yourself (or others, if you're looking for holiday gifts), you can get it on Amazon right now.
