Dragon Quest’s Hero Seems to be Coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Before the End of July [UPDATE]

A new video from Nintendo seems to imply the release window for Hero in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

UPDATE: Nintendo just changed the title of the video that was released this afternoon from saying “July” to now saying “Summer.” So perhaps Hero won’t be out this month after all.

The original story can be found below.

Nintendo released a new video this afternoon that has potentially divulged when fans will be able to expect Hero to join the roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

This new video that was released by Nintendo focuses on the company’s newest releases of the month as well as other “fan-favorites.” Upcoming releases like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order and Fire Emblem: Three Houses are shown in the trailer along with footage from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Fortnite. The footage we see of Smash Bros. specifically focuses on Hero, the upcoming DLC fighter from the Dragon Quest series.

The video seems to be showing off everything that fans will be able to play on their Switch in July. Because of this, it’s easy to draw a natural conclusion that Hero will also be playable at some point within this month. It’s worth noting that Nintendo doesn’t specifically mention a release date for the character in the video itself, or in the description of said video.

Still, it’d be a bit odd to promote content coming to the Switch in July and then show off Hero in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate so prominently in the video. If this release window doesn’t prove to be accurate, then Nintendo has definitely conveyed something here that I assume will confuse many fans, myself included.

You can find the video in question down below if you’re at all interested in watching it. Currently, all we know is that Hero is slated to come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at some point this summer. We’ll keep you posted if Nintendo has more official information to share soon.
