The new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate trailer for the World of Light single-player mode is a tour de force. While an Avengers: Infinity War mashup became immediately popular in the hours after the reveal, there have been a ton of memes and riffs on the Nintendo carnage since then. And with the self-devastation that comes with the fact that Sora isn't making it into the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate opening roster, I made a huge mistake. I created a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate x Kingdom Hearts crossover trailer.

God help us all.

The reaction generated from it was expected. Audrey Lips, DualShockers' Community Manager and resident Kingdom Hearts die-hard said:

Very well made, but incredibly dumb lol

Chris Compendio, my biggest doubter and arch-enemy on the DualShockers staff said:

I'm mad that that works so much better than I expected

I'm glad I can continue to prove you wrong.

Now I'm far from the person to try this venture--a quick glimpse of YouTube shows that a video with 3.2K views from YouTuber cab00se600 was the first to take a crack at it. His version is different, erring more on the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate side while throwing in Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix's take of "Fate of the Unknown." On top of that, it is a more direct music-over-video cut.

Meanwhile, Yuri012 was able to provide a more chopped-up version of the trailer with a more dramatic and less somber tone.

My version, which you can (unfortunately) see above, is a re-imagining of the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix opening cutscene:

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases for Switch on December 7th. You can pre-order the game on Amazon, a task that will net you the Piranha Plant character. Meanwhile, Kingdom Hearts III is quickly approaching with a January 29, 2019 release date on PS4 and Xbox One. If you haven't seen it already, make sure to go check the new (real) Tangled-themed trailer that Square Enix released earlier this weekend.

Please notice me, Nomura-san.
