With the release of the latest major update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, other than adding the long-awaited Joker from Persona 5 into the game, one of the niftiest new features added has been a video editor to let players capture and edit their own gameplay footage. Of course, that has led to one player trying to recreate a bit of the past, especially if you're a longtime fan of the series.

One Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player, going by "Sass253," shared their nearly perfect recreation of the intro sequence to Super Smash Bros. Melee, which was made entirely within the video editor feature of Ultimate.

Over on r/SmashBros, they shared that ultimately, their goal was to try and "recreate (in some sense) every shot from the original cinematic" that was featured in Melee, and managed to remake many of the shots almost exactly as we saw them in the GameCube classic.

Of course, some of the shots were not able to be made exactly in the confines of Ultimate's video editor and its features, but they still said that the recreation aimed to match the "feel" of the original shots from the cinematic where a perfect recreation wasn't possible.

For a closer look, you can check out the full intro sequenced created by Sass253 below, along with the original Melee intro sequence (via SmasherDavid on YouTube) to compare the two of them yourself. Despite some of the limitations with the video editor in Ultimate, the remake comes pretty darn close to capturing the iconic intro sequence:
