UPDATE: According to Nintendo's support page, the servers for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are currently undergoing maintenance and expected to run through 8:30pm PT (as of this writing), which appears to be giving many users issues with downloading the Ver 3.0.0 update. Until then, stay tuned for more information.

While Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been adding new features and content over the four months since it first released, this spring marks one of its biggest updates yet as the eagerly-anticipated Ver. 3.0.0 update is now up for download and bringing a special guest with it.

The Ver. 3.0.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has officially gone live after yesterday's surprise announcement from Nintendo. The company has also released the full patch notes for the latest update and detailed what players can expect from the download.

The biggest highlight for the update is the introduction of Persona 5's Joker, who is joining the Smash Bros. roster as the game's first DLC character. In addition to Joker being added, Mementos from Persona 5 is also being added as a stage alongside several music tracks from across the Persona series.

In addition to Joker, the Ver. 3.0.0 update also is introducing a number of new features to the game, such as Stage Builder (which allows players to create and share their very own Smash Bros. stages), a Video Editor feature to record and edit gameplay clips, and Smash World, which is a new feature that syncs with the Nintendo Switch Online app on mobile to browse through player-created content, make teams of Spirits, and more.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch. For a closer look at all the changes coming from the Ver. 3.0.0 update, you can find the full patch notes from Nintendo below:
