Just when I thought my Nintendo 3DS was going to be locked up in my closet for good, this little number is announced. Silver Falls - 3 Down Stars is a survival horror game that will remind many of Resident Evil 4 with its over the shoulder perspective. The game currently set to release soon according to the title's website.

Silver Falls looks to bring back everything great about the survival horror genre. There will be limited ammunition and recovery items which in turn will make resource management a high priority and an added challenge.

What caught my attention about this announcement, well, besides an indie game being announced for the 3DS of all places, was that the game would feature a "groundhog day effect" in some way. Meaning that when you are defeated, you are sent back to the beginning of the storyline. However, objectives will not be reset and some items will still be in your possession. Characters in the game are aware of this and will rely on this mechanic throughout the game. On top of that, this mechanic will be used toward puzzles and problem-solving in the game.

The title certainly does not look very pretty and I am not sure why the 3DS is the target platform, but I am a sucker for a great survival horror game so I am looking forward to seeing how this one plays out.
