Nintendo Switch to Become New Home For “Netflix of Comics” Izneo
Izneo brings the “Netflix of comic books” to Nintendo Switch with 25,000 titles to choose from including Doctor Who, My Hero Academia, and Largo Winch.
Comic books and video games go hand in hand. Wether it’s gaming worlds being reimagined in graphic novel form or seeing our favorite comic books coming to life in an interactive format like Telltale Games’ award-winning The Walking Dead series or the recently released and the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man, the marriage between the two popular mediums is consistently evident. With comic-based app Izneo coming to Nintendo Switch, it looks like this long-standing tradition is set to evolve in a new direction.
Izneo is essentially the Netflix of comic books (and this is how the press release featuring the announcement defines it), allowing people to purchase and read comics directly through the app. It sports a number of well known titles including Doctor Who, Aliens, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Hellboy. There are also a slew of mangas available spanning from classics like Appleseed to more recent titles like My Hero Academia, along with European made comics Largo Winch, Valerian, and Blacksad.
Originally launching back 2010, the popular app is already available on PC, smartphone, and tablet featuring a whopping 25,000 comic books, mangas, and graphic novels. Along with being booked for release on Nintendo Switch later this year, Izneo will also be making its way to Nvidia Shield, Smart TV Phillips, Sony and also Android TVs.
Izneo will be arriving on Nintendo Switch with a wealth of reading material at its disposal in October 2018.
