While the official NPD figures will arrive only next week, they're already in the hands of the relevant parties, and Xbox Games Marketing General Manager Aaron Greenberg let the cat out of the bag on Twitter.According to Greenberg, data from the NPD reveals that the Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console in the U.S. in December, followed by the Xbox One, and then by PS4. He also added that Microsoft's console had its biggest December share ever.You can read the relevant tweets below.

This looks like a quite different result from November, in which the PS4 came on top. That being said, it's not shocking, considering that Sony's console was heavily discounted over the Thanksgiving period, which means that most of those who wanted to buy one, probably did then, and didn't wait until December.

It'll be interesting to see if Nintendo will send a press release about the result, as they did when the Switch as at the top of the charts in October.
