Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris Second Story Trailer Revealed (Updated)

Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris Second Story Trailer Revealed (Updated)

Latest Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris story trailer focuses on game original character Medina and features opening song Scarlet by ReoNa.

Bandai Namco and Dengeki Online held a new live stream for Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris on March 22, revealing the game’s second story trailer. The trailer features SAOAL’s opening theme song, Scar/let, which is sung by ReoNa, and focuses on the game’s new original character, Medina Orthinanos.

Note that only a Japanese version of the trailer is available for now. An official English subbed version should be published in the next few hours by Bandai Namco America, and we’ll update this article with it when it’s available. In my Unneeded Opinion, we don’t learn that much in the trailer, seeing it’s the usual JRPG trailer, full of out-of-context one-liners. In a nutshell, Medina seems to end up being manipulated by some game original villain, so Kirito’s gonna beat him up while screaming with Yoshitsugu Matsuoka’s cool voice. The usual SAO stuff.

In case you didn’t hear about it yet, SAOAL adapts the first part of the Alicization arc but has some major story differences starting at what corresponds to episode 24 of the SAO Alicization anime.

ReoNa tweeted about the game’s theme song as well, mentioning the song reflects how the characters’ souls can be assimilated to scarlet-colored flowers growing close together.

Besides the new story trailer, more Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris gameplay was shown during the stream as well, and we’ll be covering that soon in a separate article.

As a reminder, Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris is developed by Aquria, the Japanese studio who did SAO Infinity Moment, Hollow Fragment, and Hollow Realization. Director Yousuke Futami stressed out how the development team took into account the errors they did with Hollow Reliazaiton though, so if you didn’t like that game, rest assured. We also covered more gameplay and trailers in a past article focusing on the battle system. Producer Futami also teased that characters who don’t appear in the Alicization arc first part like Silica might still be in the game.

Update: The English version of the trailer is included below along with the Japanese version. Producer Yousuke Futami also explained the trailer, with many new story details and gameplay we covered here. The game’s DLC and Premium Pass were also introduced.

Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris will launch on May 21 in Japan and May 22 worldwide, on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If you wish to support DualShockers, you can preorder it via Amazon.
