Sword Art Online protagonists Asuna and Kirito join Tales of Arise via DLC

The DLC is releasing on October 7 as the SAO Collaboration pack and has a price tag of 1760 Yen (Tax Included). That’s around $15.

You’ll be able to fight Kirito and Asuna in a special battle. If you manage to beat them, Alphen will learn a new Mystic Artes with Kirito and Asuna, which you can spot in the trailer below. You will also get the weapons of Kirito and Asuna after the fight.

Tales of Arise Producer Yusuke Tomizawa explained during the stream that the Asuna Kirito fight is particularly difficult. The weapons you get are among the best in the game too.

Right after buying the DLC, Alphen is also getting Kirito’s costume, and Shionne gets Asuna’s costume.

Another Kirito costume and hairstyle for Law is also getting added as a seiyuu joke: They’re both voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka. You can watch the Japanese trailer at the 1:34:32 time stamp of the TGS stream below (I much prefer the Japanese dub but here’s the English dubbed trailer as well).

Tales of Arise Free update coming on October 7

New Easiest and Unknown difficulty levels will be coming. Three bonus battles will be added as well. You’ll get new weapons if you clear these battles, and they’re themed with some of the DLC costumes. Shionne has a water rifle to go with her swimsuit for example.

Tales of Arise is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Arise is the fastest game in the series to reach 1 million copies sold.

If you’re fan enough to have read this article till the end, note that the stream also featured a special Tales of Arise TGS Skit, with the seiyuu voicing their characters live. We had Shino Shimoji (Shionne), Haruna Ikezawa (Kisara), Sayuri Hara (Rinwell), Yoshitsugi Matsuoka (Law), and Yasuyuki Kase (Dohalim). You can listen to the skit at the 1:09:25 timestamp. They also shared their impressions on several scenes in the game if you’ve finished Arise already.
