Blood Marsh is not only a location in Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, it's also a song in the upcoming soundtrack. For those wanting a sneak peek, a teaser track is now available on SoundCloud.

As explained by the game's Music Director Derek Duke in a Q&A session, not only did the Blood Marsh location changed drastically and rather often this directly affected how the music would sound. As a result, this allowed for the musical team to experiment with different sounds and musical instruments.

Duke went on to explain the various (failed) approaches taken to record Blood Marsh,

On one tangent, we recorded a bunch of really crunchy, long electric guitar tones, trying to get at that swamp vibe. Didn't work. Banjo ... nope. I could never boil it down to any single simple idea.

They ultimately came up with the idea of focusing the track on the overall theme of lost history and the emotions of the people in that area.

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls will release March 25th for PC and the PlayStation 4.
