The PS5 reveal event had plenty of eye-catching games that were shown off. Of course, everyone will look at how incredible Horizon Forbidden West or Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart looked. There was another game that definitely showed off the graphical capabilities of the PS5 and that was Kena: Bridge of Spirits from Ember Lab.The developers also shared some additional concept art on their Twitter account. You can take a look at the art in the attached tweet.
Per Josh Grier, COO of Ember Lab, Kena: Bridge of Sprits will be a story-driven action-adventure that tasks the player with heavy exploration and fast-paced combat. As you make your way through the game, you will grow your tiny sprits companions called the Rot, which I can assume are those little black fuzzball creatures. Grier goes on to mention that their abilities can be enhanced to manipulate the environment in new ways.
While all of those descriptions and aspects above have me pretty excited for the game, there is another reason I am so thrilled for this release. Remember that Majora's Mask fan-made film that made some traction some years ago? That was created by Ember Lab. I still remember watching it thinking that these people should make a damn video game.
While there will always be room for games to try to look as realistic as possible, these imaginative and colorful games with highly expressive details sometimes can age much better than others. I can't wait to jump in whenever I get the chance.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits was not given a release date during the digital event.
