Take-Two Interactive Renews Trademarks for Dormant IP, Agent

If you were to make a list of games that have been announced within the last five years or so that have unfortunately been dormant since their initial announcement, you would come up with a few names: The Last Guardian, Star Wars 1313, and up until this past E3, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Mirror’s Edge 2. Agent would also be on that list, but it appears it may not be staying there for long.

Siliconera recently found out that Take-Two Interactive has renewed the trademarks for the dormant IP. Considering the route that Square Enix took with FFVXIII – updating and rebranding the game for the next generation – it is possible that Take-Two and Rockstar Games have devised a plan to do the same. The releases of Max Payne 3 last year and Grand Theft Auto V this year also leave so many so many IPs for Rockstar to work with aside from Agent (Bully, Midnight Club, Red Dead Redemption).

At a longshot, it could be one of Sony’s surprise announcements at the imminent Gamescom convention this year.
