During an interview with Joystiq, Creative Director Christian Allen revealed that Takedown: Red Sabre will be arriving on Xbox Live and Steam on September 20th at the price of $14.99, however, Kickstarter backers will be privied to an earlier release date.
The game recently saw success following a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. After a slow response of having only raised a third of the demanded sum one week before the deadline, the Kickstarter campaign gained momentum quickly on the final days following a revamping of the campaign and a cinematic video; not only making but surpassing their goal in the very last hours, ending at $221,833 in total pledges from 5,423 backers on April 1, 2012. One notable backer was the former community manager of Infinity Ward, Robert Bowling, who promoted on campaign on Twitter.
Takedown: Red Sabre is a squad-based, tactical first-person shooter, billed as a spiritual successor to the original Rainbow Six and SWAT 4. It will feature six-player cooperative and 12-player competitive multiplayer modes, as well as mod support for Steam users looking to create their own battle arenas.
