Tales of Berseria Will Probably Be The Last Tales Of Game on PS3; The Next Might Have Seamless Battles

Tales of Berseria was originally developed for both PS4 and PS3, and this is seen by many as an element holding the game down on the technology side. Producer Yasuhiro Fukaya told DualShockers that this is probably the last time that the old-gen console is going to be supported.

Fukaya-san explained that when development of Tales of Berseria started, the PS3 was the most popular PlayStation console in the world, but now, especially in the west, the audience is shifting to PS4 much faster than in Japan. That’s why the game is skipping a PS3 release in North America and Europe.

That said, he clarified that Tales of Berseria will probably be the last title of the series released on PS3. For now there’s no information to give about the next Tales Of game, but if it was to be released exclusively for the current generation of consoles, it could make full use of the specs of the PS4.

Fukuya-san’s personal idea is that one of the improvements that could be generated by committing fully to the current generation is the implementation of seamless transitions between exploration and battle.

That would be different from Tales of Berseria itself, that still has a visible transition when you encounter enemies, even if the development team made an effort to make that transition as subtle and quick as possible.
