Tales of series producer Yusuke Tomizawa has again teased more remake and remaster projects are coming for the iconic JRPG franchise post Arise.

Our Japanese peers at Gamer.ne published a new interview with Tales of series producer Yusuke Tomizawa, and production & marketing main producer Jun Tamaoki, focusing on Tales of Arise. While the interview doesn't contain major spoilers, it'd be the best read after clearing the game.

Tales of Arise was released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on September 9, 2021. The game has been a critical and commercial success with positive reviews and over 1.5 million copies sold. However, longtime fans of the series have noted Arise has several issues. Such as its battle system during boss battles and the game's underwhelming second half. Staples of the series are also missing with the absence of replayability, or the lack of charismatic antagonists. Yusuke Tomizawa has been sharing development stories and addressing some of these points, and again teased that more remasters and remakes are coming.

Tales of Arise producer teases ports and remakes in new March 2022 interview

In this new March 2022 interview, Yusuke Tomizawa explained all of the feedback regarding Tales of Arise won't be ignored. The development team will take it into consideration for the future of the series, including remakes. I translated his comments below.

Yusuke Tomizawa: "We've managed to hit the 25th-anniversary milestone with a new console title, marking a new start. Moving forward, I strongly believe we can start a new dialogue with the fans. First, I want to say we'll take all of your requests and feedback regarding Arise into account. Not only for the next games but also for ports and remakes, which are in high demand by fans. I understand some of the older titles are all-time-favorites, so the current environment where these past games cannot be easily played is definitely not good".

Tomizawa continued and specifically mentioned PS2 Tales of games

Yusuke Tomizawa: "I know what it feels like when you love a game but don't have any way to easily replay it, such as PS2 games. I won't be able to change the whole situation right away. But I definitely believe the brand as a whole needs to take a new turn to respond to those feelings. We're discussing internally what to do post-Arise in 2022, and what to do for the upcoming 30th anniversary. We need to keep our efforts going so that our smartphone and console games, and everything beyond games in the Tales of brand can be enjoyed and loved. We will keep reading everyone's feedback as we work toward those goals so please keep supporting us".

Yusuke Tomizawa first mentioned remakes and remasters before the release of Tales of Arise, in a Twitter discussion with fans in August 2021, and a few days later in an interview for Arise's release. Read our translations with our past coverage. Tomizawa again mentioned remakes and remasters in a January 2022 interview with Famitsu magazine, fully summarized by our peers at Abyssal Chronicles.

I'm personally hoping a remaster port of Tales of Destiny Director's Cut and Tales of Destiny 2 will finally happen. What are your thoughts on the interview? Tell me in the comments below! Yusuke Tomizawa will also appear on a March 22 live stream for the upcoming Tales of Arise Liberators stage play in Japan.
