Team Meat is Creating a New Meat Boy Game for Touch Devices

on March 18, 2012 7:23 PM

One half of Team Meat, Edmund McMillen, took to the Twitterverse late last night to finally confirm that they’ll be remaking Super Meat Boy for “touch devices”. There were rumors of it earlier, but turns out not even the devs responsible for what I consider one of the top five games of 2010 can resist the allure of the mobile platform.

McMillen clarified in later Tweets that it wouldn’t be a remake per se; according to him, “it wont play like SMB (obviously) but will still feel like it and embody what Meat Boy is all about.” Additionally, he mentioned that it’d have a “totally new look.” Whether this means they’ll abandon the signature “cute-yet-utterly-disgusting” aesthetic of Super Meat Boy is still unclear.

Ultimately, there’s still more questions than answers coming out of this announcement (iOS only? still a platformer? release?), but you bet we’ll have that news for you when it comes out.
