Team Ninja isn't Interested in Squaring Off Against Capcom

You know those hot new versus titles that are all the rage in fighting games right now? The likes of Marvel VS. Capcom 3, Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter? Well Team Ninja, creators of acclaimed series like Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden, have expressed that this trend doesn’t enthrall them in the least.

When asked by Videogamer about the chances of ever seeing collaboration with Capcom for that type of game, program head Yasunori Sakuda replied:

“In terms of fresh ideas, I don’t know if that would be considered enough of a surprise for Team Ninja. I think we really want to have a unique angle and a unique approach to any collaboration. In my opinion, it seems like because there are other rivals doing this and teaming up together, it doesn’t seem like a fresh approach, and seems like there’s a pattern. So that would be my gut answer to that.”

These games have certainly gotten quite popular within the last year, so I can totally understand where he’s coming from. Not only that, but Dead or Alive is already an amazing fighting series, so perhaps it’s better off without the mash-up.
