Sega has announced that Team Sonic Racing has been delayed to May 21, 2019 in order to make it "the best game it can be,"

We know delays are no fun, but quality matters most. Thanks for your patience – we’ve got more to show you for TSR very soon!

Team Sonic Racing's original release date was winter 2018, though that has now bee pushed to Spring 2019 with its May release date. It is a sequel to the popular 2010 racer Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, and the latest in the Sega Superstars racing series. However this will only feature characters from Sonic and not across Sega's many franchises. As the title implies, Team Sonic Racing is more about cooperative play than previous games, as points are awarded not just for placing at or close to first, but also for how well you performed as a team.

Sumo Digital, developer for Team Sonic Racing, is also the developer behind Microsoft's often-delayed Crackdown 3. They have also been the developers behind Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and its sequel Transformed.

Team Sonic Racing premiered at E3 2018 and you can read our preview in which we found the "team" aspect lacking in the actual gameplay. You can get your own hands on it via Amazon when it releases next May for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
