Team Sonic Racing has been zooming around at the Tokyo Game Show, and as well as showing off some tracks and gameplay at the venue, a new video also arrived to the YouTube channel.

You can find the video below, which features Sonic Series Producer, Takashi Iizuka. He gives a quick insight into the developmental process, his favorite Team Sonic Racing car, and even discusses the music.

The video begins with the inspiration behind the team-based racing style, reflecting on watching his child play other kart racing titles with his friends with some being happy, others unhappy. This encouraged him to work on Team Sonic Racing and introduce a concept that has everyone sharing the victory.

During the expo, three tracks out of the planned twenty-one tracks that will be available were showcased: Wisp Circuit, Ice Mountain and Market Street. We've previously seen a couple of tracks revealed just before this years Gamescom.

These will all be playable with players being able to create combinations of class types per team. Used as examples, players could create a team with one player with the Speed class, another with Technique, and another with Power. However, it's possible to mix it up, such as Power, Power, and Power, or Speed, Speed, and Technique.

Iizuka also detailed that his favorite Team Sonic Racing character is Shadow the Hedgehog because of the car. According to Iizuka the car went through many conversations and variations before being the final vehicle we see in the video. Shadow's personality also shines through when discussing tactics with the rest of the team.

Iizuka talks about getting Jun Senoue on board to create the soundtrack for Team Sonic Racing, having previously worked on Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition.

The racing title was set to launch in Winter 2018, however, it ended up being delayedTeam Sonic Racing is now set to launch on May 21, 2019, for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
