In a new Sonic the Hedgehog Twitch livestream panel, a new customization trailer for Team Sonic Racing, as well as an announcement trailer and first part for the Team Sonic Racing Overdrive animation, directed by Tyson Hesse, has been revealed. Two new soundtrack remixes also debuted during the stream. Sonic Team also announced that Sonic Team has begun production on the next Sonic the Hedgehog title.

The panelists -- head of Sonic Team Takashi Iizuka, Jasmin Hernandez from Sega America, and Sonic Team composer Jun Senoue -- discussed the upcoming Team Sonic Racing and debuted quite a few new trailers. The first is a new customization and gameplay trailer for the title, showcasing the various ways players can use earned in-game currency to buy parts and customize their favorite characters' carts.

The second announcement was quite the surprise, as even the panelists admitted to working hard to ensure it remained a secret up until the livestream. Tyson Hesse, the director behind the excellent Sonic Mania Adventures animated series as well as the opening for Sonic Mania itself, has been hard at work with his team on a new animation project called Team Sonic Racing Overdrive. The dev team even went so far as to debut the first part of it.

Two new soundtracks also premiered during the Twitch stream, the first "Bingo Party" and the second "Theme of Knuckles."

The dev team also stated that while they had no new information about the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie, Paramount Pictures will be revealing something about the film very soon. And as a surprise at the end of the panel, Iizuka revealed that Sonic Team's development of a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog title is currently underway. Little else is known about the project, but feel free to sound off in the comments on what you hope it is.

Team Sonic Racing had been previously discussed at Tokyo Game Show by the series producer, after the game was delayed to May 2019 due to quality issues.
