In a gesture seemingly commemorating the recent Metal Gear Solid 3 remake and the series' revival, a passionate Tears of the Kingdom fan has taken it upon themselves to recreate Metal Gear's iconic Metal Gear REX mech using the versatile Zonai components at their disposal.

With a Twitter profile adorned with stunning and intricate designs of animals like crabs, birds, dinosaurs, and centipedes, @uran120, a veteran Lego designer, effortlessly demonstrates their remarkable expertise and exceptional level of accuracy. Given their evident skills, creating a fictional masterpiece like the nuclear-armed Metal Gear REX bipedal tank is surely nothing but a breeze for them.

The Metal Gear REX plays a pivotal role in all Metal Gear installations and is arguably the most iconic element within the series. The primary purpose of this humanoid machine - and specifically the railgun mounted on its shoulder - is to launch nuclear missiles from anywhere in the world without the need for a rocket propulsion system, and with less radar detectability than any other nuclear weapon around the globe.

This ability to disrupt global power dynamics (as depicted in the story canon), is precisely why the protagonist Solid Snake is tasked with infiltrating military bases and neutralizing these formidable REX weapons throughout the series.

In addition, Uran shows an obvious passion for mecha anime in general, as evidenced by their creation of a blazing fire hand that pays homage to the famous Gundam G series and its protagonist, Domon Kasshu's iconic Shining Finger move. In this special entry in the Gundam franchise, Domon seamlessly integrates martial arts techniques into his mech arsenal, the most important of which has him shouting "God Finger" while delivering a decisive blow, and punctuating this action with the resounding declaration of "HEAT ENDOO," which Uran aptly includes as a caption in their post.

There is also the intriguing design of a large combat bicycle (possibly a nod to Death Stranding or Akira?) and another ballistic system that bears a striking resemblance to Metal Gear's Shagohod or its real-life counterpart, the HIMARS. Unlike the Metal Gear REX, the Shagohod had limited mobility and lacked the distinctive bipedal design, making it akin to a predecessor of the Metal Gear. Notably, the Shagohod made an appearance in Metal Gear Solid 3, adding an eerie coincidence to its creation alongside the recent reveal of the remake.

For those eager to explore further, other attractive designs on Uran's profile include satellite weapons, mechanical spiders, the iconic RX-78 beam rifle reminiscent of Amuro's weapon in the original Gundam anime, and a nod to the RB-79 Ball, another legendary weapon from the Gundam series. Perhaps a full Gundam will make an appearance in Tears of the Kingdom one day?
