Tekken 7’s New Camera System Allows Both Combatants to be the First Player
Do you prefer the left side of the screen the first player starts on by default in most fighting games? Do you dislike being forced to the second player or right side of the screen?
You’ll be happy to hear that Tekken 7 looks to assuage this problem. Team lead Katsuhiro Harada took to Twitter today to demonstrate the feature at a location test being held in a Japanese arcade:
そうか、ゲームカメラとレンダリングカメラの違い以前に、「何故今までなかったのか(できなかったのか)」とか「今まではどうやって2画面出していたのか」という所も説明しないとダメなのか。。。サマーレッスンの開発や説明のほうが簡単だと実感! http://t.co/C65T6pkM18

This would be an excellent feature for anyone who preferred starting from the first player position, as I must admit I do. The tweet indicates that the feature is indeed being tested and is not confirmed to appear in the final version of the arcade game or the console versions.
If the feature were to make it to the home consoles versions, I would have to assume it would only be viable in online competition, excluding local play from just one machine. See an image demonstrating two players both starting from the left side of the screen on their respective cabinets below.
