Tekken 7’s New Character Josie Designed by Bayonetta’s Mari Shimazaki; Official Render and Info Revealed

There has already been a lot of talk about Tekken 7’s new character Josie Rizal, the female fighter from the Philippines announced today by Katsuhiro Harada.

Today Harada-san revealed on Twitter a few pieces of information about her.

  • Her name is inspired by the Philippines’ national hero: Jose Rizal.
  • Her fighting style is a mix of eskrima and kickboxing.
  • The initial feedback about her has been largely positive. This morning her name was even trending on Twitter.
  • She has a sad background. She’s “a crybaby, but strong.” That’s why she cries of joy when she wins.

Interestingly, Josie’s character design (which has also come under fire from a few that didn’t seem to appreciate the sexy attire and cute design, as usual), is the latest fruit of the collaboration with Bayonetta’s Mari Shimazaki.
