Tekken x Street Fighter “On Hold For the Moment” According to Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada

It has been awhile since we have gotten any official word on the status of Tekken x Street Fighter, though now we have an update from Bandai Namco producer Katsuhiro Harada himself. During an interview with GameSpot, Harada answered a question about the status of Tekken x Street Fighter, a game he announced at San Diego Comic Con in 2010.

Harada: That’s a difficult question to answer. When we develop fighting games, we try to keep the core community in mind as well as the wider audience that wants to play these games. But currently the situation is with fighting games, you have Street Fighter V that just released–a lot of people are playing that fervently–and there’s a large crowd out there waiting or Tekken 7. We don’t want to split these communities, so a good window in which to release Tekken x Street Fighter is something that’s become difficult recently. So it’s on hold for the moment.

For now Bandai Namco’s focus is on Tekken 7, which is set to release on¬†PlayStation 4 sometime this year. Street Fighter x Tekken, the other crossover game announced at Comic Con 2010, released in 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Vita, and iOS devices. Hopefully this is not the last we will hear of the collaboration.
