The Tekken series is no stranger to character customization. Since Tekken 5, every release has featured some way for players to gussy up and personalize the appearance of their favorite characters. The forthcoming spin-off Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will take things further with items and weapons that have actual applications in combat (it looks as over-the-top as it sounds).

That's why Harada-san's recent Tweet confirming the inclusion of character customization in Tekken X Street Fighter came as absolutely no surprise.

This is awesome news because it seems like Capcom will be taking the DLC costume route with Street Fighter X Tekken, which means players will have to spend extra money for arguably irrelevant aesthetic changes. My question now is, will things go as far as they have/will in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 or will the customization be purely aesthetic? I doubt such a ridiculous mechanic would have a place in what is obviously a very big game for Namco, but we won't know for sure until we see more of the game. We'll keep you posted on any new Tekken X Street Fighter developments.
