10 Chambers Collective, the developer behind the co-op horror title GTFOannounced today that Tencent has acquired major stakes in the studio and state that the investment will give 10 Chambers "creative freedom to reach new heights".

10 Chambers Collective was founded in 2015 by 9 veterans who had worked on the Payday games. Last year, the studio launched GTFO, a horror game that puts up to 4 players in an underground complex with the goal of completing tasks and completing all levels in the Rundown.

The Rundown has been the main focus for GTFO, a feature that basically gives players a bunch of levels that grow harder with each level. However, when a new Rundown with more levels is introduced, the previous one is removed from the game, ensuring players are getting a fresh bunch of content.

"As we're closing in on six years of development of GTFO, we've realized that our ambitious long-term vision for our studio will need more muscle," says Ulf Andersson, Creative Director of 10 Chambers speaking on the investment. "We needed to find a partner that gives us the creative freedom to reach these new heights, while at the same time support our long-term commitment to the GTFO community. For the future of the studio as a whole; it makes it even more exciting"

The press release indicates that the developers are working on the next Rundown update of which players can expect to see a bunch of new enemies, maps, and scenarios.

Oscar J-T Holm, CSO of 10 Chambers says, "We are thrilled to have Tencent by our side on our continued journey," he hints at a possible new title by adding, "we are planning to make GTFO an even more terrifying experience, as well as embark on new adventures together."

Additionally, Eddie Chan, the president at Tencent Games says that, "We are delighted to partner with the creative talents of 10 Chambers and look forward to supporting long-term development of the studio to achieve their vision in the co-op FPS genre"

it certainly sounds as if GTFO could be getting a lot bigger and I intend on jumping back into it to see where things have gone since we last tried the game. At current, it's only available on PC, but the studio would love to move into consoles. Perhaps this could be a new possibility given the investment.
