The Borderlands community helped a really great dream come true this past month. A Reddit user by the name of taurustrev went to official Borderlands Reddit a month ago in the hopes of playing Borderlands 3 early. His real name is Trevor Eastman. Trevor was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal, stomach, and liver cancer and he did not know whether or not he would live to see the launch of the game. He wasn't even asking for the community as a whole to stand together and make this dream a reality. He just wanted to ask to see if anyone knew a way he could get the game early.

Reading through this thread, you can see the sheer amount of support of random strangers going to Twitter informing Randy Pitchford and Gearbox of the situation trying to get Trevor the game.

Update on dying 27 year old. from r/Borderlands

Being a gamer, seeing so much negativity consistently can be a real drag and at times can kill motivation, but moments like these just recharge my battery and reminds me that there is so much more good than what is shown on a day to day basis. It is so great to hear that this fan is getting to experience the game before it is too late. I hope you enjoy the game, Trevor.

Borderlands 3 is set to release September 13 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC being exclusive on the Epic Games Store for six months.
