In a somewhat surprising announcement, Re-Logic announced on the Terraria forums that their super popular game is out on Nintendo Switch in two days. The port has been in development for a while now. In the forum post, the devs noted that "since the game is done, (they) figured (they) would just get it in your hands as soon as possible." I'm sure Terrarians everywhere are glad for the news.

The port is being handled by Pipeworks Studios. They also did the ports for PS4 and Xbox One, so the game is in good hands. This release does come at an interesting time for Re-Logic. In addition to whatever assistance they're providing to the Switch port, they continue to work toward ending development on their hit indie.

As announced a few weeks ago, Terraria: Journey's End will be the final content update for the game. The update adds over 800 new items to collect along with numerous quality of life updates that should improve the experience for everyone. The enhanced world generation and new bestiary are particularly exciting for long-time fans. The update even adds a new golf mini-game.

Journey's End is tentatively scheduled for a 2019 release. However, the team has made it clear that the update will be out "when it's ready". I'll be interested to see how quickly this new Switch version gets that update after it comes out on PC. Hopefully, the wait is very short.

Terraria will be out on Nintendo Switch on June 27. The game is currently available on pretty much everything else at this point.
