Tetris 99 Gets New Paid DLC Expansion Featuring Offline Mode and Marathon
Following its release this past February, Tetris 99 now offers an offline mode and more as part of the newly-released Big Block DLC.
Tetris fans have had a lot to look forward to in the past few months thanks to the release of stellar games in the franchise like Tetris Effect and Tetris 99, and now players of the latter Switch title now have more to look forward to from the game with its first ever paid expansion.
Nintendo has announced that a new paid DLC expansion for Tetris 99 is available now, which is called the “Big Block DLC.” The new DLC is available now for $9.99 on the Nintendo Switch eShop, and specifically focuses on bringing new offline options to the previously online-only game.
As detailed by Nintendo, the Big Block DLC offers a CPU Battle mode that simply replaces the signature 99-player battles of Tetris 99 with bots instead of other players, challenging players to be the last one standing. The second of the two modes is Marathon, which challenges players to work their way through as many lines as possible during a run.
According to the eShop description, the Big Block DLC will also seemingly offer other new modes for Tetris 99 down the line as they release. However, no other information was provided at this time on what those other future modes might be.
With Nintendo seeming to double down on other potential exclusive games for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, hopefully Tetris 99 and other expansions like the Big Block DLC are just a sign of what’s to come in the future.
Tetris 99 is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
