Soulcalibur fans, get ready to take up a new tale of souls and swords in the very near future.
Namco-Bandai has announced during this week’s Tokyo Game Show event that the latest entry in its long-running fighting franchise, Soulcalibur: Lost Swords will be heading to PS3 this coming winter in North America. As the first-ever free-to-play entry in the series, Soulcalibur: Lost Swords will reportedly have more of an emphasis on single-player components and mission modes rather than competitive play, as Namco-Bandai also detailed that the game will not include online multiplayer.
So far, only three characters have been confirmed to be making a return to Lost Swords: Seigfried, Sophitia, and Mitsurugi, all returning vets from previous entries of the Soulcalibur series. While Namco-Bandai didn’t exactly provide details on what model that Lost Swords will be using for purchases, in-game micro-transactions or bundles of new characters, arenas, and other content seems likely for Soulcalibur‘s first foray into free-to-play.
