The Ancient Gods Part 2 Ending Explained

Before getting into the details of the ending, you need to know who was the Dark Lord to understand who betrayed God and Doom Slayer in order to make them fight against each other.

Who Was the Dark Lord?

In the final battle of The Ancient Gods Part 2, you fight against the Dark Lord and beat him twice in two battles. The first time that you beat the Dark Lord, he reveals that he was the first being and the real God who created everything and everyone else, which is then confirmed by The Father by saying that he himself was created by the Dark Lord. However, The Vergil (Angels protecting the God, including The Father) managed to steal Dark Lord's/God's power and gave birth to Doom Slayer as a clone of God to kill Dark Lord and ascend The Father to Godhood.

What Happened to Doom Slayer?

When Doom Slayer kills Dark Lord, every demonic entity created by him disappears. Then, Doom Slayer himself becomes unconscious and gets back to the graveyard until the next time The Father needs him. This is not the end for Doom Slayer, but he has been disabled at the end of The Ancient Gods Part 2.

For now, this is the end of Doom Slayer's era, but it's yet to be seen when and for what reason Doom Slayer will be back in action once again.

Doom Eternal and its latest DLC are now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
