The Callisto Protocol was originally announced as the debut game from Striking Distance and was supposed to be a background for the PUBG universe. However, the developers recently revealed that they have cut all the ties to PUBG in their upcoming title, turning it into a standalone horror story.

The Callisto Protocol Arrives Over a Month Earlier Than Dead Space Remake

Today, we were lucky to get our first look at the gameplay of The Callisto Protocol, an action-horror adventure in an abandoned facility on a planet far away from home.

As the trailer implies, it seems like the protagonist has crashed his spaceship into Callisto, an abandoned planet that is also called The Dead Moon. A series of events leads the main character to be prisoned in a weird facility filled with horrifying mutated creaturs.

The gameplay of The Callisto Protocol will shoot you back in time to the era that you used to play the Dead Space trilogy. The camera angle, the immersive UI elements, and the whole atmosphere make it feel like a spiritual successor to Dead Space, which is not surprising as the creator of that legendary trilogy is the director behind The Callisto Protocol.

The Callisto Protocol will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on December 20, 2022.
