The Character Outlines in Super Smash Bros. 3DS Can be Disabled

You know those rather awkward thick black outlines that can be seen on the characters in the game-play footage and screens of the Nintendo 3DS version of the upcoming Super Smash Bros.? Well, creator Masashiro Sakurai recently took to the Miiverse to confirm that the outlines are quite optional, saying:

I guess we haven’t shown the Villager or the Wii Fit Trainer on the 3DS until now. By the way, their outlines can be made thinner or made to disappear completely.

I understood the reasoning behind the outlines; the characters will be smaller and therefore more difficult to keep track of on the 3DS’s screen in comparison to the Wii U version. However, I’ve thought the outlines looked somewhat tacky since I first saw footage of this game, so I’m glad to know we’ll be able to remove them.

Super Smash Bros. will be available on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS next year.
