Paranoid Productions revealed The Church in the Darkness last year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and the game was one of the most interesting indie titles coming into 2017. That being said, the game did not release this year, and will now be coming out in 2018. This isn't stopping the developers from showing off the game today though, as over 10 minutes of new gameplay was shown off today via IGN First.

For those of you who aren't aware, The Church in the Darkness is a top-down action/infiltration game set in the 1970's in South America. Players control an ex-law enforcement officer named Vic who infiltrates the Collective Justice Mission, a radical group attempting to establish a socialist utopia in the jungles of South America named freedom town, though it begins to look much more like a cult upon closer inspection.

In this new IGN first video, the game's Writer and Director Richard Rouse delves into different aspects of the games. The nature of the cult actually randomized each time the player begins the game, so players can determine the severity of what the cult is doing and whether or not they want to play the game lethally or non-lethally. If players die, they must restart their playthrough of the game but are able to choose some extra equipment in their next run based on what they found in their previous run.
