Paranoid Productions first announced The Church in the Darkness all the way back in 2016, and nearly three and a half years later we have finally learned when the game is arriving. Come August 2, 2019, The Church in the Darkness from Paranoid Productions and Fellow Traveler will be available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. You can check out the trailer revealing this release date below:

If you've been following the game, you will also notice that Nintendo Switch is a new addition to the platform lineup for The Church in the Darkness. It is actually already available to pre-order on that hybrid console as well as Xbox One. Those who pre-order will net themselves the game at a 20% discount which will also be applied to all versions of the game for a week after its launch. While The Church in the Darkness Standard Edition is available for $19.95, a True Believer Special Edition, which costs $29.95 and includes a soundtrack and videos on the game's development, will also be available.

For those of you who might not have heard of The Church in the Darkness, it follows an ex-cop named Vic who is trying to sneak into Freedom Town, the compound of a religious cult called the Collective Justice Mission. The cult is ran by a husband and wife, Issac and Rebecca Walker, who are portrayed by Team Fortress 2's Sniper voice actor John Patrick Lowrie and GLaDOS voice actress Ellen McLain respectively. With permadeath, several different endings, and variation on the severity of the cult in question with each playthrough, The Church in the Darkness definitely sticks out within the indie scene.

DualShockers' Jordan Boyd seemed to think the same when he checked the game out at PAX last year, commenting "if you’re interested in story-driven games or action-infiltration you should definitely keep an eye out for The Church in the Darkness." The game releases for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on August 2.
